Harriman Point Nature Preserve – The maintained nature preserve adjacent to our property, this is 138 acres on a coastal peninsula with walking trails, 2 miles of coastline, and views of Blue Hill, Acadia National Park, Mount Desert Island, and the Blue Hill Bay. Center Harbor – Home to the Brooklin Boat Yard, a working wooden boat design and construction business with docks and boat mooring. They welcome respectful visitors to the boatyard to see the craft in action. Visit https://www.brooklinboatyard.com/ for more information.​

WoodenBoat School and Store - The reason we discovered and love Brooklin! Located on the coast, the WoodenBoat School hosts 1 and 2 week-long classes in all things boat construction, along with adjacent subjects like sailing, navigation, woodworking, design, and marine arts. Visitors are welcome to walk around the property and the shoreline even if you're not taking a class., visit thewoodenboatschool.com for info. Blue Hill Peninsula

Beyond the town of Brooklin, the Blue Hill Peninsula is a vast area with small towns, coastal attractions, local food, and charm.

The Maine Lobster Lady – Looking for a lobster roll that isn’t a tourist trap? You'll want to come here! Our personal favorite for lobster rolls, fresh seafood, homemade lemonade, and delicious pies for dessert. Indoor and outdoor (dog friendly) seating, located in Sargentville about a 15 minute drive from the cabin. Bagaduce Lunch – Located in Penobscot about 20 minutes’ drive from the cabin, this place is a local favorite that has garnered attention beyond the Blue Hill Peninsula. The best fried seafood around, amazing onion rings, and you MUST get some soft serve ice cream at the end (flavors change every few days, check their Facebook page). They can get busy on the weekends, but they’re open during the week as well.

Blaze – A wood-fired pizza and more restaurant in downtown Blue Hill. The patio over the stream is a great place to sit and there’s plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. If you have a dog with you, the outdoor seating is dog friendly!

Tinder Hearth – Fresh made bread and pizza! In the morning Wed-Sat 9am-12pm, grab fresh bread and pastries. In the evenings Tues-Fri from 4:30-8pm, get some wood-fired pizza, the best around! Visit https://www.tinderhearth.com/ for the latest hours.

Roaring Lion Farm and Market – Another local gem! Located in Segwick about 20 minutes from the cabin, you can grab breakfast and lunch from 8am-2pm on Wed-Sun. Famous for miles around is Sunday Burger Nights! Burger nights are Sundays each week during June, July and August from 4:30 - 8 pm. They make 100 burgers a night, made from their own grass fed beef - along with hand cut fries and milkshakes. (Beer and wine available too.) They highly recommend pre-ordering. Devil’s Half Acre Beer Garden – A new addition to the area in Spring 2024, come enjoy local beer in a cozy converted barn. Kid and dog friendly too! Just outside downtown Blue Hill, check their website for hours https://www.devilshalf.com/

Barncastle Hotel and Restaurant – Another local gem, this historic hotel serves drinks starting at 4pm and dinner starting at 5pm Wed-Sun. The food is great, the atmosphere is classic Maine, and well worth a trip. Reservations are highly recommended during the busy summer months. https://www.barncastle.me/dining

Marlintini's Bar and Grill - A classic local pub in nearby Blue Hill. Open 7 days a week from 11am 'til close. Their website has the menu and nightly specials. https://www.marlintinisgrill.com/
